今年度2組目となるレジデント・アーティストとして北欧出身のベティーナと、プロジェクト・パートナーのシモンが、10月から2カ月半にわたり京都芸術センターで滞在制作を行いました。本展は2人が京都で取り組んだアートプロジェクト「Kyoto Dinner Experiments」の展覧会です。

展覧会初日に、約20名のプロジェクト参加者のレシピによる北欧・日本ハイブリッド魚料理をインスタレーションの一部として展示し試食します。あわせてアーティストおよびプロジェクト参加者によるプレゼンテーションも行います。どなたでも参加いただけますので、気軽にお越しください。

本展は、3ヶ月にわたって私たちが京都の人々と出会い、一緒に料理をし、食卓を囲むという過程を経て実現されました。日本と北欧はともに、伝統的に魚を多く食す国ですが、その方法は大きく異なります。この点に興味を持ったことから、今回のディナー・プロジェクトは始まりました。
プロジェクト参加者と一緒に料理をし、お互いの魚料理のレシピを交換する、その上で彼らには、展覧会のために新しい「日本・北欧ハイブリッド魚料理」を作ってもらうことをお願いしました。
私たちは、このディナー・プロジェクトを通じて、ここでしか出会えない人々と出会い、ここでしかなしえないコラボレーションを作り出したいと考えました。
プロジェクトの過程において、私たちの依頼に向き合った参加者ひとりひとりのアプローチが、この展覧会をかたちづくっています。
こうして、このディナー・プロジェクトと展覧会は、いきいきとしたコラボレーションの場へと生まれ変わるでしょう。

”The exhibition Kyoto Dinner Experiments is the result of a three month long process where we have met, shared cooking experiences and had dinners with people living in Kyoto.
Japan and Scandinavia both have a strong tradition using fish but in very different ways, this became an interesting starting point for our dinners.
By inviting the participants to our home and to cook with us we shared our experiences and exchanged our recipes.
For the exhibition we asked the participants to use what they learned from our first dinner together and bring a new Japanese-Scandinavian hybrid fish dish.
Through the dinners we wanted to create new meetings and collaborations that otherwise wouldn’t occur. In the process the participants were challenged and their approach to this decided the outcome, making the project and the exhibition a dynamic collaboration.”

ベティーナ・ヴィーデヴォルト・ヒスタッド & シモン・トロセル・レリン
ベティーナはノルウェー、シモンはスウェーデン出身。ともに1985年生まれ。アイデンティティー、人類学、社会や文化の構造などをテーマとしたアートプロジェクトに取り組む。自分たちがいる場所、都市やその生活から着想し、現地に住む人々の参加によって成立する作品をてがけている。2010年にはオルガンハウスアートスペース（重慶・中国）、943スタジオ（昆明・中国）でのアーティスト・イン・レジデンス プログラムに参加。
Bettina Hvidevold Hystad (Norway) and Simon Torssell Lerin (Sweden) was both born in 1985. Bettina studied Fine Art at Bergen National Academy of the Arts and Glasgow School of Art. Simon studied Fine Art at Bergen National Academy of Arts and at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. In their artistic practice they try to utilize their location, the city and the citizens as much as possible. By inviting local people to join them in the creation of their artworks and making them a crucial part of the process they want to shift focus away from the artist and instead focus on the audience making them a greater influence on the art experience. Together they have had solo exhibitions at Organhaus Art Space, Chongqing (2010) and 943 Studio, Kunming (2010).Separate they have had solo exhibitions and been a part of group exhibitions in Norway, Sweden, France, China, Japan, USA, Scotland, Germany and Luxembourg.
